Utilization of Cognitive Learning Strategies among Grade 9 Students in Literary Writing

Abstract
This research studied various cognitive learning strategies and how students
applied them which also determined difficulties associated with applying cognitive
learning strategies in literary writing. This study aimed to ascertain the various
cognitive learning strategies employed in literary writing, the perceived influence of
these tactics on students, and the difficulties students face while applying cognitive
learning strategies in literary writing. The researcher employs a quantitative study
design and a random sampling approach, with 100 Grade 9 students as respondents
from the designated local. The outcome is determined using Likert scale methods
such as weighted mean and percentage calculations. Along with its objective, the
researcher concluded that the students use various types of cognitive learning
strategies and perceived it positively when it comes to literary writing. For the recommendations, organizing seminars and workshops for the students is considered
essential to introduce further the different types of cognitive learning and its
utilization. Also, the construction and implementation of tasks and activities will
maximize their cognitive skills even in different subject areas.
