Perceptions, Challenges, and Experiences of Parents as Support System in their Children on the Modular Learning in Mathematics-Related Tasks of Grade 11 Students in the Division of Lucena City

Abstract

The common problems encountered in the study are the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of sex, age, educational attainment, number of children, and employment status; the perception of parents as a support system for their children on the Modular Learning in Mathematics-Related Tasks; the challenges of the parents as a support system in their children on the Modular Learning in Mathematics-Related Tasks; and the experiences of the parents as a support system that they encountered during Modular Learning in Mathematics-Related Task. It used a quantitative and qualitative type of research, the study utilized descriptive methods for qualitative and qualitative design. The subject of the study is a total of fifty-five (55) randomly selected parents or guardians. The researcher used a purposive sampling technique because parents play a role as a support system for their Grade 11 children during the modular learning in mathematics-related tasks. The result revealed that parents encountered different challenges and experiences based on their experience during modular learning. It said that the support of the parents, while their children are engaging in the online class, is very important. While their kids are answering modules parents should be there beside their children so that they can support their kids. Most parents are more prefer faceto-face to modular because when an online class at home their kids have new roles and new responsibilities the Parents’ cognitions about their role have been identified as a major contributor to their willingness to engage in supportive parenting because parents are the one who can help on their child’s education to be successful.
