Difficulties Encountered by BLIS Students in the Utilization of HyFlex Learning Modality in the Achievement of LIS Competencies
Area of Research
Abstract
This study determined the difficulties encountered by BLIS students in the
utilization of HyFlex learning in the achievement of LIS competencies. This study aimed
to identify the preference for HyFlex learning of the BLIS students. In this study, the
researcher used a quantitative approach of research employing a descriptive-survey
research design utilizing survey checklist questionnaires as the main instrument in
gathering data to determine the difficulties encountered by the respondents in HyFlex
learning. Further, this also determined the difficulties encountered by the BLIS students
in the achievement of LIS competencies. The research findings served as an aid in the
evaluation of the difficulties encountered by the respondents in the utilization of HyFlex
learning which hinders the achievement of LIS competencies. The result of the study
revealed that the difficulties encountered by the respondents in the utilization of Hyflex
learning in terms of connectivity, instruction, resources, and technology got an overall general weighted arithmetic mean of 2.05 with a qualitative index of “Less Difficult”. The
perceived difficulties of the respondents' achievement of LIS competencies in the
utilization of hyflex learning got an overall general average weighted arithmetic mean of
2.13 and a qualitative index of "Less Difficult". Hence, the respondents are having less
difficulty in utilizing hyflex learning and achievement of LIS competencies. Furthermore,
the researchers made the following recommendations: (1) students should examine the
year level that affects the learnability of LIS students. This may allow students to
participate in online learning in a variety of ways. (2) The teachers maintain learnercenteredness and devise techniques to keep students engaged in online learning. In
online learning, be aware of the student's limitations and talents. (3) The administration
encourages teachers to participate in various courses and seminars that will
considerably assist them in engaging students in an online class. Learn what pupils are
lacking in online and face-to-face learning.
