Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to determine the technology’s impact on student learning and teaching techniques for 21st-century dance education. Specifically, it answered the following objectives: determine the demographic profile of the students-respondents in terms of age, sex, monthly family income, and teachers-respondents in terms of age, sex, educational attainment, position or designation, and years in service in teaching. Moreover, this study also determines the respondents’ level of familiarity with the technologies being used in 21st-century dance education, their perception of the technology’s impact on the teaching-leaning process, and the factors affecting the use of technology in the teaching-learning process in dance education in the 21st century This study was conducted in a public school in Quezon Province and the respondents were thirty (30) students currently studying dance and thirty (30) teachers teaching dance. The study used a qualitative method of research in the form of a descriptive research design to gather the data needed. Students-respondents were 15 boys and girls and the majority of them were 14 years old whose family income was in the bracket of Php 15,001.00-20,000.00 and very familiar with the technologies being used. Even though there are factors that hinder the effectiveness of using technology in the teaching-learning process, still they strongly agreed that technology has a good or positive impact on teachinglearning in dance education in the 21st century. On the part of the teachers-respondents, the majority of them were female, Teacher III, having the age ranging from 21-30 years old and 31-40 years old, Bachelor’s Degree with units in Master’s Degree, and have been taught for 11-15 years in the field of teaching. Most of them were familiar with the technologies being used in teaching. They strongly agreed and believed that technology has a great impact on their teaching after they found out that there were factors affecting their teaching-leaning process in dance education in the 21st century, and the number one factor is the originality of the student’s performances. Thus, there is no difference in the responses of students and teachers regarding the familiarity of the technology used in dance education.MANUEL S. ENVERGA UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION Both students and teachers-respondents revealed that technology has an impact on teaching and learning dance education as it was evident they strongly agreed that there is an impact on the learning process. Student-respondents agree that there are negative factors that affect the use of technology, on the other hand, teachers-respondents strongly agreed on these negative factors. In line with the conclusion, the researcher recommended that the school should request the Local Government Unit (LGU) to conduct a seminar workshop on livelihood for less fortunate families so that there will be extra income to finance the student’s needs, especially in terms of buying load for mobile data. Also, ask them to improve the connectivity of the internet in the locality where students reside and do the learning. The students and teachers should continue embracing innovation and always use technology in a good way to improve their talents and skills. Use gadgets and other technological advancements for effective communication and good product implementation. Continue using technology in the best way. Watch tutorials and other informative videos on how to use different kinds of technology properly and effectively in the modern world, and also search for new trends to improve more skills and gain more knowledge for a better understanding of global innovation. And for more improvements, conduct a seminar-workshop both for students and teachers to uplift their knowledge and skills in the use of modern technology in the learning process. Have continuous monitoring of the performances of the students in an actual manner for those students who have poor internet connectivity. Furthermore, the researcher recommends that future researchers should conduct similar studies to gather more information about this topic to improve the teaching and learning process for the benefit of both the teachers and especially the learners.
