Coping Strategies of Grade 6 Teachers in Science Requirements Under Flexible Learning

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to help the grade 6 teachers to implement
strategies in teaching science using available materials under flexible learning
modalities. The Researcher's respondents were 30 grade six science teachers in
selected public schools in Quezon Province. A random sampling design was
used which will enable the collection of the quantitative data from the
respondents. The Researcher used a descriptive research method to gather
information. The researcher conducted a quantitative type of study. The survey
questionnaire was distributed to gather all the data. It is guided by four research
questions. (1) What is the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of
age, sex, highest educational attainment, and length of service in the teaching
profession? (2) What are the challenges that teachers may encounter in teaching
science under flexible learning modalities? (3) What are the coping strategies
used by the teachers in teaching science under flexible learning modalities? (4)
What is the effectiveness of available materials in teaching science under flexible
learning modalities? The study found that the majority of the respondents were 31 - 40 years old, the majority of females, and the highest educational attainment
of a Bachelor’s Degree with units in Masteral. Many of the respondents were 6 -
10 years in the teaching profession. The study also found out that majority of the
respondents agree with the challenge “Lack of internet connection”. Also, the
coping strategy that they used in teaching science is “help students experience
science in varied, interesting, and enjoyable ways”. The respondents also
agreed with the effectiveness of available materials in teaching science.
The researcher expected that the results of this study will help the
teachers. The researcher hoped that teachers can able to read this study.
