Level of Implementation of Brigada Pagbasa to Grade 2 Learners in the New Normal in the Selected Schools in Lucena City

Brigada Pagbasa is a movement that aims to improve the ability of Filipino children who can read and improve their comprehension. This study aimed to know the level of implementation of Brigada Pagbasa to the grade two learners in the new normal. Especially the demographic profile of the respondents; level of implementation of Brigada Pagbasa the Grade two learners; effects of implementing Brigada Pagbasa the Grade two learners in the new normal; and difficulties encountered by the teacher in implementing Brigada Pagbasa in Grade two learners. The quantitative research design was utilized to employ a self-made survey. Respondents were 30 grade 2 teachers from different schools in Lucena City. Results revealed that the Level of Implementation of Brigada Pagbasa to the Grade 2 Learners is fully implemented, strongly agreed upon, and highly evident. The Grade 2 teachers in public elementary schools of Lucena city are the majority of female, and most of them are 51-60 years old. Half the total number of the respondents graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree. Some of the grade 2 teachers have been teaching for almost 31 years. Teachers used adopted-reading or teachermade reading materials to teach students to improve their reading/literacy skills. Brigada Pagbasa can help learners improve their reading comprehension. The teachers have difficulties with the new normal in the students' reading comprehension. Based on the findings and conclusions drawn from the collected data, the researcher recommended that the Principal can make a seminar or program that will encourage the teacher to take up a Master's Degree. Teachers should provide other reading materials to improve students' comprehension. The teacher should use different reading intervention materials such as worksheets, graphic organizers, and other strategies appropriate to the learners' needs to improve reading comprehension. Teachers and parents should work closely together to improve the learner’s learning.
