Area of Research
Abstract
This study aimed to determine how librarians break the stereotypes affiliated with their profession and how it affected the services they provide in the library. Quantitative descriptive research was used in this study to develop a plan to promote librarianship. The researcher used a probability random sampling method through Google form to identify the perception of 4th-year students of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation if the Librarians are breaking the stereotypes. A strategic plan was established through the results of the data gathered from the respondents to promote the librarian profession and their nature of work. The researcher found out that through the study's results, academic librarians are breaking the stereotypes in a way that the students 'information/library anxiety' are eased. The study revealed that there are users who are still not aware of the librarian's nature of work but trust their skills and knowledge in providing them with their information needs. Thus, the study will be enhanced in promoting the library profession through the ILP (Information Literacy Program) which will result in students trusting the librarians to have safe and effective communication with the help of obtaining feedback from the users.
