Perceived Effects of Parental Absence on the Academic Performance of Maritime Students

Completed2023

Abstract

Parental absence is the absence of one or more parents, whether it is temporary or persistent. Students suffer when their parents are apart. Parental disputes can be far more upsetting for children than even the death or divorce of a parent, and they can have serious negative effects on kids' social connections, health, and academic performance. The focus of this research was to determine how parental absence impacts the academic performance and motivation of marine students and to develop solutions, such as brochures and seminars that can be used by these students to deal with parental absence. The research structure was used in the research design to show that all of the major elements had been designed and worked together. The researchers utilized a phenomenology-based research design for their study. Three maritime students from the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation were the total number of participants during this availability sampling study. The sampling helped the researcher easily gather the data among the respondents to this study. The majority of respondents concluded that socializing and emotions are among the problems associated with parental absence. Students additionally stated that family needs and emotions are among the challenges that they face. The participants also concurred that parental absence had an emotional and physical impact on their academic performance. Parents should be urged to offer children more support, encouragement, and appreciation for their accomplishments, no matter how big or small since this can boost their selfconfidence. But inquiring more about their academic environment and what they are studying demonstrates to your child how much you value their education.
