Completed2021

Abstract

This study aims to examine the time management skills of maritime students. Specifically, this study distinguished the common activities of maritime students in terms of school-related activities and social-related activities. It additionally determined the barriers of time management skills on Maritime students. It also evaluates the ways of maritime students on how to manage their time. Furthermore, it examined the relationship between time management skills and academic performance of Maritime Students. This study used quantitative research design to collect and analyze the data and it employed descriptive survey research to accurately obtain information that needed in this study. Moreover, the researchers used self-made checklist questionnaires as a main tool in gathering data. The respondents of this research are composed of third year students coming from Marine Transportation and Marine Engineering courses with the total of 60 maritime students from aforementioned courses that are officially enrolled in Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF), Academic Year 2020-2021. The results of this study shows that the r-value (r 0.21) is accepted since the computed value of 1.636 is less than the tabular value of ±2.000. It means that there is no significant relationship between the Time Management Skills and Academic Performance of Maritime Students. Implying that the results might be the same whether you spent a short or lengthy time studying. Furthermore, the findings suggest that whether students delay their duties or not has no bearing on their academic achievement, and that whether they spend more time on social activities has no bearing on their academic success. Therefore, for the school administrators, conduct a seminar or webinar for the students to further develop their time management skills such as, providing some strategies that should help them to accomplish task on time. Moreover, the students will figure out how to apply those learning from the webinar for them to become organized, prepared, and productive
