Level of Implementation of Police Integrated Patrol System in Barangay Dalahican, Lucena City
Area of Research
Abstract
The Philippines National Police (PNP) has collaborated with other governmental
agencies to create the Integrated Patrol System (IPS). The goal is to effectively carry
out the PNP's primary responsibility, which is to provide the local community with
essential public safety services. It is a proactive crime prevention strategy with
important elements including patrol officers who are charged with acting to stop crimes
from happening based on the previous crimes. It is a proactive approach because it
aims to stop or involve offenders before they carry out their wrong deeds and by
removing the element of opportunity. The operational rules and procedures that have
been put in place also instruct all PNP units to improve crime prevention and resolution through the pursuit and augmentation of police presence. The Police Integrated Patrol
System genuinely integrates and harmonizes all current plans and initiatives for police
security and anti-crime activities. Other duties related to law enforcement and countercrime are still included but not excluded by their patrol service.
Moreover, the Integrated Patrol System (IPS) and police presence assures lawabiding residents of their safety from impending crimes by would-be criminals and is
seen as the backbone and heart of crime prevention and anti-criminality.
