The Effects of Online Sabong: Implication to Crime

Abstract
The study is generally conducted to evaluate the various effects of online sabong
the bettors, especially its implication to crime. In conducting the study, a quantitative
method was utilized in quantifying the results. Moreover, the researchers used the
descriptive approach in depicting and analysis of the possible collected data. Before
conducting the study, the researchers sought validation of their instrument by subject
experts for reliability. After approval, the researcher immediately printed out surveys and
prepared letters. They then collected data from their surveys, tallied them, and
evaluated them thoroughly before forming conclusions and making recommendations.
The respondents were the family members or significant others of online sabong bettors
through the purposive sampling method, where 100 respondents came from Brgy.
Bocohan, Lucena City, the research setting, was chosen. Results show that online
sabong has an impact on behavior's physical, psychological, and physiological wellbeing particularly it's contributed to the criminal behavior of bettors. Furthermore, the
results catered were substantially used to achieve the study's utmost output and
implication served as a reliable source of information to increase the knowledge about
gambling and its effects on people. Such information can help policymakers/lawmakers in making practical decisions to prevent online gambling crime by creating specific
programs or assessment and treatment options available to bettors with gambling problems.
