Completed2022

Abstract

Solid waste is the everyday items that arise and are discarded by people and animals. With this, the primary concern of this study is to identify the awareness of the community on Republic Act 9003 for the researchers to find a concrete solution to the problems in the selected Barangays in Lucena City, specifically the improper waste disposal itself as the most evident problem. The focus of this research is to evaluate various waste disposal methods observed in the selected barangays and to analyze why residents in the barangay continue to practice them, which causes problems in the community, environment, and people's health. This study used a descriptive method to analyze the solution, conditions, and experiences of the selected Barangays in Lucena City. To gather valid and reliable data, the researchers provided a consent letter for the respondents before answering the self-construct survey questionnaire through google forms or hard copies. The researchers used these major tools to acquire the information needed to achieve the study's goal. The result shows that the community identified the different local government programs implemented. Moreover, most of the respondents know how to manage solid waste properly. In addition, the community always participates in the community’s goal regarding RA 9003. Furthermore, the solid waste management unit and community are both cooperative and active regarding solid waste management. Therefore, the researchers recommend continuous development and positive relations with the active participation of the community and any environmental government agency to achieve a healthy environment for a good quality of life.
