Accounting Literacy and Entrepreneurial Skills of Business Owners in Lucena City: Basis for a Proposed Program

Abstract

In the local scenario, after the peak of COVID-19, the researchers observed many businesses emerge from the market, from e-commerce to traditional physical stores in different industries. The study aims to determine if there is a significant relationship between accounting literacy (domain knowledge and knowledge of accounting software), entrepreneurial skills, and soft skills and competencies. The methodology used in the study is quantitative research with purposive sampling and a questionnaire as a research instrument. After thoroughly testing the responses, the results have shown no significant relationship exists between accounting literacy, knowledge of accounting software, and entrepreneurial skills and competencies. There is also no significant relationship between accounting literacy: domain knowledge and soft skills and competencies, but there is a significant relationship between accounting literacy: domain knowledge and entrepreneurial skills.
