Photovoltaic Electrical Lighting System Design of MSEUF-Lucena Library Building
Area of Research
Abstract
One of the biggest problem facing the world nowadays is the scarcity in the supply of electricity. The rapid growth of the industrial plants and business establishments affects the supply
and demand electricity in the nation. Department of Energy encourage every business
establishment and industrial plant to go greener in terms of considering the fact of having
renewable energy as the supply of electricity. The researchers have an idea of how can
technology helped the university to lessen the power consumption of the library building as it
helps the environment to reduce the global warming caused by the green house emission. The
researchers came up with the study that can help the library to generate its own power by the use of the photovoltaic system
. The photovoltaic system is designed using solar panels to gather solar
energy to be converted into electricity.
The photovoltaic system was composed of solar panels, charge controller, battery, and
inverter. If there is an excess power generated for the photovoltaic system it will go through a bi
directional kWh Meter provided by the electric utility company and it will be fed to the utility
grid.
The effectiveness of the prototype is very much considered to be able to have a better
output in the system that can supply the needs of the library lighting system. Therefore, the
modification and improvements of the system is welcome to have an outcome that will make a
greater impact the part of the university and also in the students.
