Effectiveness of Program as Perceived by Accountancy Graduates
Area of Research
Abstract
This study’s center of interest lies on the effect of on-the-job training on the current work performance of accountancy graduates in acquiring their perception about the topic. The study uses descriptive methodology with survey as data gathering procedure. The researcher used a Likert Scale questionnaire along with some open-ended questions in acquiring data from the respondents. The respondents were the 2016-2018 accountancy graduates of academic institutions within Lucena City. The study showed that the on-the-job training program of each academic institutions is deemed to be effective and relevant to the current work performance of the graduates. Results were based in terms of experience, quality, job, knowledge, respect, productivity, skills, and ability. Though the training was deemed to be effective, there were still some ideas about improvements of the on-the-job training programs given by the respondents, specifically adding more hours of training required, frequent supervision or visits of the adviser and making the schedule of the on-the-job training class friendly. The findings of this research may assist the academic institution’s accounting program to further develop their on-the-job training program.
