A Correlational Study on Academic Performance and On-the-Job Training Performance of Fourth Year CBA Students for School Year 2021 – 2022

Completed2022

Abstract

On-the-job training (OJT) program is one of the most prominent programs in higher education and has been an integral part of the Philippine educational system specifically in tertiary and senior high school levels. This is a tremendous opportunity for students to provide a deeper understanding of the theories and principles through application into practice. Specifically, this study sought to determine if there is a correlation between academic performance and on-the-job training performance of fourth year students under the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) Department. The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design using purposive sampling technique in selecting the respondents and was limited to the perceptions of sixty-five (65) fourth year students enrolled in selected professional courses through the administration of self-made and adapted questionnaires. Findings from the study revealed that there is a significant relationship between the academic performance of BSA students and OJT performance indicators in the subject Auditing and Assurance: Concepts and Application 2 in terms of personality and appearance, and work attitude. However, all the other dimensions of academic performance have no significant relationship to the dimensions of OJT performance. Results also showed that there is no significant relationship between the academic performance of BSBA-FM students and OJT performance. Meanwhile, a correlation analysis was not conducted in the following programs: BSMA, BSBA-OM, and BSBA-OA as the minimum required data points were not met.
