Prototype Design of Automatic Transfer Switch for MSEUF-Lucena Administration Building
Area of Research
Abstract
This research intended to fabricate a prototype of an automatic way of transferring and
retransferring of power source between the utility company and the standby generator during
power interruption. Specifically, the study aimed to design the automatic transfer switch with
some additional features just like the selector switch, indicator lights and thermal overload
relays. The study is a research and development type which made use of its attainable set of
techniques for the prototyping and for the development of designed system. Some tools just like
the hand tools and VOM were used to fabricate the prototype of the system. The designed and
finished prototype was tested and evaluated by the purposively selected respondents in terms of
its functionality, effectiveness, efficiency and reliability. The responses of the respondents has
the corresponding rating based on the observed operation of the system. The system is the way
on preventing the possible data loss in the administration building during power interruptions
and can provide a safer and much advanced operation of a transfer switch.
