Physical Well-Being of Police Officers: Its Explicit and Implicit Analysis

Abstract

Police officers serve to maintain law and order for the peace of the community. They also respond to different incidents and assure that the safety of the people always comes first. They are an important part of the community protecting life and property through the enforcement of laws & regulations. They are also proactively patrols assigned to different areas. During calamities or any emergency events that require adherence police officers are front in line. However, police officers' work can cause them stress that leads them to their sickness and affects their physical well-being. The pressure of law enforcement put officers at risk for high blood pressure, insomnia, increased levels of destructive stress hormones, and heart problems. This means that their work is detrimental that can affect not only their physical appearance but also their mental health. Due to the stress and pressure of work police officers commonly experience many psychological hazards such as anxiety and discrimination. In line with this, the government is implementing programs that would benefit the health of police officers. They are also encouraged to engage in police training to improve their physical well-being so that they can perform their duties properly. However, they still struggle on maintaining their physical fitness all through their years of service, which is very alarming not only for themselves but also for the whole community. This paper aims to understand and know the problems causing police officers to struggle to maintain their physical well-being. To collect the data needed the researchers will use a survey questionnaire.
