Satisfaction Analysis of Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management Students of CIHTM on Cruise Management Program under Flexible Learning

Abstract

The cruise market is one of the fastest growing segments of the tourism and hospitality industry. This study aimed to evaluate the satisfaction level of college students taking the Cruise Management Program through online flexible learning approach. In particular, it identified how the respondents evaluated their level of satisfaction in line with their perceived curriculum needs under the cruise-line management program of the department. This also determined the level of satisfaction of the students based on the effectiveness of the program in terms of the courses taken, association of the courses with their assigned professors, course structure, and technical aspects of teaching this program in an online and flexible environment. A descriptive type of quantitative research approach was used to know the satisfaction of the respondents with the help of an online survey form disseminated remotely among the population of hospitality management students of CIHTM specializing in Cruise Management. The result of the study helped the researchers to create a better insight for every student especially the ones who are currently taking Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management major in Cruise Management. The findings revealed that the students taking cruise management program under online flexible learning were satisfied of using technology-based learning. Further, it was concluded that this kind of learning process, using technology, can be also effective to the students. As recommended, the department should produce or organize a benchmarking tour or activity to keep at par with the practices of other universities offering the same program. The objective is to increase the awareness and exposure of students to newer forms of learning and knowledge acquisition.
