A Tracer Study on the Employment Status of BS Hotel and Restaurant Management Graduates of the College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation from 2017-2019
Area of Research
Abstract
This study determined the present profile and employment status, collected the information of the graduates, discovered the job placement status, determined how many graduates are into the hospitality industry and how many graduates are in the different fields in terms of their career, and found out the factors and influence of their recent employment status. The variables included in the profile of respondents were sex, age, civil status, employment status, factors, and influences of their current career profile. The study used the descriptive survey method of administering questionnaires to BSHRM graduates. Snowball sampling is the sampling design that the researchers used. Data gathering procedure was done by using social media platforms to contact the graduates. The total population of the respondents is 155 but only 61 graduates have answered the questionnaire and it is at least 40% of all the three batch graduates as the researchers targeted respondents who participated in the study. The target beneficiaries of the researchers are the College of International Hospitality and Tourism Management, the other researchers, the labor market information system, and the researchers themselves. All the data were given to the target beneficiaries and have a proposed Enhancement Skills Training to the graduates with the department of CIHTM. Majority of the respondents have successfully entered the Hospitality Industry from their first job until today. The reason that they are staying for their job is the benefits that they are having within the company that they are working. After graduation, most of them decided to get a job in their field which is really expected and it turns out to be a success because they lasted to their first job 1-2 years and others are only 6 months. Also, most of them are working locally. It is understandable because that is the right time to have an experience for becoming a better employee to a desired industry and job. The reason that they chose that path is because of their family and relatives who support them all throughout their journey. Since the paper was not fully focused on the curriculum of the BHRM batches 2017-2019, it is a must to include the skills that they have gained within the time of their college days because it reflects the curriculum that they have and the school’s training with them. Also, the other recommendation is to make it possible to gather data at least 50% of the total population because 40% rate is too low to defend the research paper.
