A PROPOSED AGRO-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Completed2020

Abstract

An Agro-Industrial Complex is composed of integrated industries and shared processing facilities wherein different varieties of agricultural products shall be processed and featured in a one-stop-shop area (Ocampo, 2019). The post-harvest and processing losses can be minimized by adopting modern processing techniques and more efficient processing centers. Thus, this study is enclosed towards the design of an upgraded processing complex with the intent of creating a structure to provide local farmers, dealers, distributors, and sellers an area to systematically prepare and process their crops. The facility in terms of location is set at the Municipality of Sariaya in Quezon Province, which connects to the major key points and areas of the province. The proposed location of the site was an area near the SPPAQFI or the Sentrong Pamilihan ng Produktong Agrikultura ng Quezon Foundation Incorporated which is located in Sariaya, Quezon, wherein all the agricultural products were delivered. This makes SPPAQFI to be also known as the Bagsakan Center of the Province of Quezon (DOST-PCAARRD, 2019). The proposed project is seen as a catalyst for the development of the newly sealed sector, which means fresh food can be delivered to the major markets of the neighboring towns and into the whole region in the long run. Furthermore, this study aims to serve as a new driver of the agricultural economy for the whole Province of Quezon that is set to improve the productivity of the locality by providing proper and innovative facilities for the farmers and the local workers at the agricultural sector in the province.
