A PROPOSED REDEVELOPMENT PUBLIC MARKET IN LUCBAN, QUEZON
Area of Research
Abstract
Based on the present study, the researcher found out that the community of
Lucban Quezon lacked a sustainable market that will affect the locality as well as the
adjacent barangay. The total of population of Lucban Quezon is 51,475 as
determined in 2015 (PhilAtlas, 2019).
A market is an actual or nominal place where forces of demand and supply
operate, and where buyers and sellers interact to trade goods, services, or contracts
or instruments, for money or barter. Markets include mechanisms or means for
determining price of the traded item, communicating the price information, facilitating
deals and transactions, and effecting distribution. The market for a particular item is
made up of existing and potential customers who need it and have the ability and
willingness to pay for it.
The proposed market center would be located in Lucban, Quezon because
Lucban is a small coastal place in Quezon (Phil Atlas, 2019). It is near a crowded
place. Moreover, it is useful for the people of Lucban as well as the neighboring
towns. This study was conducted because the researcher learned that Lucban
Quezon needed a bigger market. Based on the researcher’s research, the market in
Lucban is along the main road and the wastes are piled up in one side of the market
that result to a bad smell that is why the researcher came up to idea of proposing a
renovation of market center in Lucban Quezon. In addition, this proposal would
benefit the people of Lucban especially the vendors and the buyers.
