Abstract

The Philippines is believed as one of the happiest countries in the world but it ranked first with the most depressed people in South-East Asia (De Guzman, 2018). The World Health Organization (WHO) statistics show that half of the individuals with mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, mood, and thought problems develop at age 14 where it is likely affects teenagers and young adults. Candelaria is a first-class municipality and third most populous in Quezon Province. The total population of Candelaria as of 2015 is 117,434 persons (candelaria.gov). According to the 2010 CBMS data, there is 34.93% (38,540 persons) of young dependents in the locality. The proposed retreat center aimed to prevent and lessen individuals suffering from mental illness. The Proposed Self-Healing Retreat Center is a restorative facility that will provide accommodation and facilities that are orderly maintained and designed to provide a serene sanctuary that promotes physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The retreat center will provide facilities and services where individuals can explore, connect, accept and inform in the process of self-healing and spiritual growth. This study sought to answer how the physical environment affects human health and wellbeing. The project site for the proposed retreat center will be located at Barangay Masin Norte, Candelaria, Quezon. The site is for facilities that will accommodate ndividual or even large groups where they can meditate, attend seminars, and conduct fellowship that will help individuals heal their mental health. The proposed retreat center aims to guide, to help heal and to lessen individuals who are suffering from mental illness. This retreat center is for those individuals who seek for guidance and spiritual help to conquer their life problems and help them to heal their mind and soul.
