Abstract

The research study was enclosed towards the design and development of a Correctional Penitentiary for the additional capabilities available to convicted persons. It also intended to allow this structure to implement a high tech and modern design in the province about jail for additional security measure (Adlaon, 2019). The proposed facility is to be located in Lucena City specifically in Barangay Ilayang Dupay which is connected to the diversion road and as an additional facility for overcrowded detention facility in Barangay Talipan, Pagbilao. A design was created that would provide an effective jail management that can efficiently monitor inmates to grant them the needed rehabilitation program and would determine the inmates’ eligibility for early releases. Lastly, the study underwent an evaluation of the performance of the developed system. The purpose of this study was to facilitate a human rights-based approach in the development of prison infrastructure. Architectural design will serve as a solution for all parts of the structure such as circulation of the air and passive circulation within the cells (Thigpen, 2019). The Proposed Correctional Penitentiary incorporated a solid waste management system to immediately maintain cleanliness which would contribute to the facility having a clean environment and the placement of herbs in this facility which would help the inmates’ concern in staying (Banua, 2019).
