A PROPOSED LUCENA HORTICULTURAL CENTER

Completed2020

Abstract

he Proposed Lucena City Horticultural Center was located at Barangay Bocohan Lucena City, Quezon Province. According to Harris and Siebel (2015), horticulture is the art of cultivating and handling fruits and vegetables, and also herbs, flowers, foliage plants, and woody ornamentals. This project aimed to improve the city in terms of tourism and bring more value for the economy, since Lucena City is considered as a highly urbanized city in CALABARZON. Furthermore, this study aimed to make people aware of horticulture and its importance and role in the environment. This project included a horticultural center where people can learn about horticulture that could provide opportunities to people in Lucena City and other nearby towns. In this proposed center, one can find different types of plants and flowers with different purposes according to their uses. When it comes to biological benefits, horticulture includes the use of plant parts to help avoid land erosion, absorb carbon dioxide, slow water runoff, control dust, and provide habitat for the wildlife. Furthermore, horticulture is socially important because it improves the knowledge of the use of plants and how to properly take care of them including its use for food and other purposes for humans and other living species, as well as repairing the environment and personal aesthetics (Studylib, 2019).
