Mental Health Issues of Seafarers and its Impact on Work Onboard

Abstract
This study focused on the different mental health of seafarers and its impact on work on board. It employed the quantitative descriptive research design wherein surveys are used to gather data. The respondents were purposively selected. Frequency, weighted mean was used in the statistical analysis while thematic analysis was used for the analytical framework. This study is to the seafarers and students and others related to them, friends, parents and colleagues. Results show that several factors such as environmental, emotional, and physical factors may affect the mental health state of seafarers and that these factors greatly affect their work performance. There is a significant influence of mental health issues in the work performance of the seafarers.
