Completed2021

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the parental role in developing 3rs (reading, writing and arithmetic) among grade 1 pupils. The study was conducted in one of Public School from West District in Tayabas City. Using the qualitative-quantitative design, semi-structured interviews and survey were used for data collection, which enables the researcher in capturing the perceptions of purposefully selected research participants. The study established the effective method/strategies, the significant roles of parent, and the challenges encountered by parent in developing 3rs among grade 1 pupils. The study revealed that 3rs is the foundation to academic success in life of children therefore, the reading, writing and arithmetic appears to be one of the powerful skills that enables a child to progress in developing basics skills in grades 1 pupils for the enrichment. The research highly encourages all parents to use these methods and take notice of resources required to improve 3rs habits, which can empower children to become successful learners. Moreover, parents need to establish a strong relationship between both contexts through close monitoring and facilitation that could discourage children to use the materials instruction effectively. The parents become well aware of their critical role in order to facilitate children in developing 3rs (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic). Moreover, we need to consider the capacities of parent for parental involvement in the education of their children. This study will recommend that parents should play an active role in developing 3r skills by providing materials and creating a friendly environment at home.
