The Level of Awareness of Grade 6 Pupils in Online Etiquette during Virtual Classes

Abstract

This study determined the level of awareness of grade six (6) pupils in using online etiquette during virtual classes in public school in Lucena City. It also analyzes the practices of the student on online etiquette and their challenges encountered when performing the online etiquette during virtual classes. This research used descriptive research design, purposive sampling and used a self-structured questionnaire to gathered data. The study can greatly help the teachers to know the level of awareness of the students about online etiquette. The study composed of 50 respondents composed of 26 females and 24 males that range to 11-12 years old that choose randomly and voluntarily. As the result, grade six students are extremely aware in using online etiquette during virtual classes. The challenges that they encountered on using online etiquette are all the same. They share common challenges in performing online etiquette such as internet connection, emotions and they interaction to the others. Students should improve their awareness about online etiquette. Teachers should have time on having conversation with the students before having a class. The teacher should educate students in terms of audio settings on their used gadget. Parents or Guardians should guide their child while having virtual classes. To cope with the situation, seminars about awareness of the students in online etiquette are recommended to help them gain knowledge on the level of awareness of the students about proper online etiquette.
