Completed2021

Abstract

The research study evaluates the pedagogical suitability of online distance learning modality among Junior High schools and Teachers in a national high school in continuing the educational process amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This paper examines the effectiveness of the online distance learning modality in teaching Mathematics through pretest and posttest results. Furthermore, it examines the significant differences between the level of agreement of students' and teachers' perspectives on the applicability/usability and challenges encountered in delivering online distance learning. Data was collected through an online questionnaire to determine the demographic profile of 11 teachers and 127 students engaged in online learning modality. Upon processing the data gathered using SPSS, such as percentage, weighted arithmetic mean, dependent t-test, Wilcoxon Signed Ranked test, and independent t-test, the study shows a significant improvement in the pretest and post-test scores of the students. Also, the comparison of the participants' responses shows no significant level of agreement regarding the perspectives and challenges encountered by the teachers and students. The reflection on the result ascertains the impact of online distance learning modality on the academic performances of junior high school students.
