GENEU ADVENTURES: An Android Game-Based Educational Learning in English for Grade 1 Students

Abstract
K-12 Curriculum learning must be meaningful, and actively engage students in decision-making and understanding. This study examined how the Geneu Adventures created a social learning environment that influenced first grade students’ levels of engagement within English based under K-12 program and identified software development method that assisted Grade 1 students as participants and work to facilitate their engagement. Data consisted of evaluation, co-teacher interview, and independent observations. Data were analyzed using selective coding. The findings suggested that cognitive aspects of the Geneu Adventure actively engaged all Grade 1 students. Features included sharing the learnings in English, communicate each other using English. Providing and familiarize the students in noun, adjective and verb on how they can use it as a tool for learning. Likewise, modified games and ability groups helped
Grade 1 as participants and facilitate their engagement. “Geneu Adventures” was developed using the Agile Software Development that require minimal planning in favor of rapid prototyping and makes it easier to change requirements. Adobe Flash and Adobe Photoshop were used to design the interface.
