Abstract

This study determined the satisfaction level of the CTHRM students in their Laboratory equipments and facilities, and also the level of adequacy of these based on the Department of Tourism’s accreditation instrument. To archive this purpose, the researchers determined the demographic profile of the respondents as to age, gender, year level, and course; the laboratories and simulators that are being used by the students for their major subjects, the level of satisfaction of the students and the quality of these are measured. Using the descriptive method of research through a self-made questionnaire for the sub-problem number three, and the accreditation instrument given by the DOT, the principal instruments in data gathering. The statistical tools percentage and weighted mean were utilized to analyze the qualitative data. The results of the questionnaire were tabulated and interpreted from which the findings and conclusions were drawn. Out of 50 questionnaires that were handed out, 50 were returned. The respondents consisted of 38 females, 8 males and 4 of them did not specify their sexual orientation all are students of the College of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management. From the results of the statistical analysis made on the data, the following were the major results revealed. The researchers concluded from the data that were gathered from the respondents that the quality of the laboratory equipments and departmental facilities of the College of Tourism, Hotel and Restaurant Management are of Very Good Quality, because of Numerical Evaluation given by the 50 respondents of the CTHRM, it is seen on the tables in the Chapter 4 of this research paper. The General Laboratory Requirements, Food Laboratory, Equipments that are in the Food Laboratory, Mock hotel Room simulator, Mock Front Desk and Travel Laboratory. Equipment and Supplies received a “very good” rating in the evaluation made. The satisfaction level of the respondents also play a big role in the improvement of their major subjects because people who aren’t satisfied with what they are doing do not finish what they’re doing, or if they did then it wouldn’t be the best work that they have made or it won’t be made out of joy, but out of necessity. So the researchers determined the satisfaction level of the respondents on every laboratory equipment and facilities, most of these the respondents gave a “very satisfied” rating, and on the remaining one they gave a “satisfied” rating, all of the equipments and facilities received a positive rating. And now the satisfaction level of the respondents on these said laboratories and facilities, the researchers made a self made questionnaire, and based on the weighted mean that was computed and ranked the laboratory which received the highest weighted mean an of 4.40 and a satisfaction rating of “very satisfied” is the Coffee Shop, followed by the Culinary arts Laboratory with a weighted mean of 3.88 and a rating of “very satisfied”,and then followed by the Demonstration with a weighted mean of 3.55 and a satisfaction rating of “very satisfied”, next would be the class room facility with a weighted mean of 2.76 and is translated to a “satisfied” rating and then the last and lowest ranking laboratory is the Hotel simulator with a weighted mean of 2.73, but had the “satisfied” rating nonetheless. The researchers recommend the following to divide the questionnaires evenly to every Year level, gender (if possible) and Courses so that there won’t be an unbalanced portion in the demographics. To regularly consult to the requirements of the Department of Tourism for the accreditation of the equipment to help maintain the quality and also the quality of the facilities. And lastly, to upgrade the current wifi connection of the university for a higher satisfaction level of the students for research and academic purposes.
