Abstract

Gastronomy is the study of the food and culture on a particular gourmet cuisine. Lucban Quezon, Lucena City and Tayabas City are some of the known town/cities in Quezon province especially when we talk about foods. Their foods vary from native kakanin, sweets to noodles and to main dish. The main objective of this study is to determine the demographic profile of the respondents. It also aims to identify the role of gastronomy in the tourism of Quezon especially in the mentioned places in Quezon province. It also identifies the strategies being sued by these town/cities to promote their place with the help of gastronomy. it also determines the opportunities that can contribute to the in terms of economy and social aspect as perceived by the respondents. Researchers identified the three towns or cities which are frequently visited. Upon identifying these they have visited the place to determine what those foods they are best known are. For Lucban Quezon their pancit habhab or pancit lucban were identified, in Lucena City chami and chami sisig are two best cuisine while in Tayabas City yema cake and cassava cake or budin were chosen. They distributed questionnaires to randomly selected tourists to get their perception on the gastronomy as part of tourism of the province. The results show that for the two cities most of the respondents are female from age bracket eighteen to twenty five. From Lucban Quezon and Tayabas City majority of the respondents are single while those from Lucena City most of them are married. Majority of them operates their own business.
