Abstract

PHP quest is an educational-RPG game that aims to teach IT students and other people who wants to learn and to improve their programming skills using PHP language. It is designed to be an alternative learning material of the PHP language that will both teach and bring enjoyment to its target audiences. The goal in making this game is to address the difficulty of learning in the PHP language. This game includes different topics about PHP, these topics aimed for an unusual way of teaching. Evaluation tools are crucial for this project. This project proves that there are many things, one can learn in using non-traditional methods of teaching like Mobile games. With this, the game is considered successful not only in teaching and providing more knowledge about PHP programming but also in giving enjoyment for the users. This game can help the students to enhance their knowledge and skills in understanding, analyzing PHP programs and most importantly, providing entertainment to the users while they’re learning. After the evaluation, the game garnered positive reviews from the respondents. The different criteria, such as functionality, organizational and design, instructional design and delivery, game based learning, were given feedback which were quantified by their overall mean which were 4.265, 4.326, 4.4 and 4.478 respectively. With the overall means used as a basis, the game can be described as much attainable which means it accomplished its goal to be both educational and enjoyable.
