ROAD WIDENING AS AN EFFECTIVE STRATEGY IN LIMITING TRAFFIC CONGESTION IN IBABANG DUPAY RED-V LUCENA CITY

As known by everyone, traffic is inevitable in everyday living in the metro. However, nowadays, it becomes an alarming situation within the roads of Ibabang Dupay Red-V Lucena City. In any arising city, every commuter must accept and go along with it daily. In order to lessen the traffic congestion within Ibabang Dupay Red-V Lucena City, the researchers investigated the Road Widening as an Effective Strategy in Limiting Traffic Congestion in Ibabang Dupay Red-V Lucena City. The researchers used a questionnaire that assessed the effectivity of road widening. This is a way to learn the development of the possible strategy to avoid traffic congestion and to make the everyday living of everyone in Ibabang Dupay Red-V Lucena City amenable. The researchers conducted a descriptive type of research with the use of the questionnaire as a tool for gathering data from the respondents. There were fifty (50) commuters and fifty (50) drivers acted as the respondents for the research. Results show that most of the commuter respondents are in the middle of 16-20, Majority of the respondent were female. Majority of the commuter were experience 1-2 years of the traffic congestion with rod widening while 1-5 years without road widening. Meanwhile most of the commuter where experiencing traffic congestion in the time of 1-2 hours and 4-5 hours. The causes of road widening in limiting traffic congestion reveals that the increase number of vehicle, inadequate parking lots and the increase number of population causes traffic congestion. The effect of road widening in limiting traffic congestion reveals that the expansion of the road can increase the capacity of the road system and the road expansion is beneficial to employees and students because it speeds up the flow of vehicles to get head of time, For the driver’s respondent most of them were in the middle age of 31-35, Majority of the respondents were male. Majority of the drivers were experience 1-2 years of traffic congestion with road widening while 1-5 years without road widening. Meanwhile most of the driver where experiencing traffic congestion in the time of 4- 5 hours. The cause of road widening in limiting traffic congestion reveals that the lack of traffic signals and increasing number of vehicles. The effect of road widening in limiting traffic signals reveals that the expansion of road can help the growing population because it has a wide space and the road expansion is beneficial to employees and students because it speeds up the flow of vehicles to get head of time.
