STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF POLICE MISCONDUCT

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the students’ perceptions of police misconduct in Lucena City. Specifically, this sought the answer to the following questions: 1) What are the demographic profile of the respondents? 2) What are the perceptions of the respondents on police misconduct? 3) What are the common police misconduct committed by the police? 4) What are the students’ perceptions about the impact of police misconduct? This study used quantitative-descriptive method. Survey questionnaire was used to gather data from the 100 students of the College of Criminology and Law Enforcement. Results show that majority of the respondents belong to 18-20 years old. The respondents are aware of the police misconduct and they must preserve they integrity. The common police misconduct is brutality and violating to the rules and corruption. The students also perceived that the police misconduct is a serious problem which need to be addressed by the police officers. The study recommends that another study may be conducted related the present study.
