CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION TRAINING: ITS IMPLICATION TO THE PERFORMANCE OF POLICE INVESTIGATORS

The study assessed the implication of criminal investigation training to the performance of police investigators. It specifically identified the training provided for criminal investigators, determined the characteristics of criminal investigators must be possessed, evaluated the performance of police investigators in terms of the general function of investigators, standard methods of recording investigative data, sworn statements and affidavits, preparation of reports and filing of charges and other functions of investigators. The study utilized a descriptive survey method of research and was conducted in some particular area in Quezon Province among selected police with knowledge regarding the investigation. Results revealed that the police investigators had been through in different criminal investigation particularly in criminal investigation course. It determined that the characteristics of police investigators must strongly be possessed in order to solve a crime. As well as the performance of police investigators was outstanding when it comes to investigating crimes and people. Thereby, the criminal investigation training generally helped police investigators to improve their performance in their job. With these findings, a program plan for police officers especially police investigators was proposed and developed to evaluate the effectiveness of their skills, knowledge, capabilities, and performance provided by the training of criminal investigation.
