SOW GESTATION CALENDAR AND MONITORING SYSTEM
Area of Research
Abstract
Managing a piggery business is not an easy task. It will take knowledge,
manpower, and skills to make it profitable and enjoy at the same time. The persons
involved in this kind of business take a major responsibility because of the daily job
that they will do. Even in backyard piggery, if you are the only one or you have a
partner, your time will be consumed too much. It is hard to feed, take a bath, clean,
and schedule which sow or what type of sow will be gestating on that day even if the
caretakers go to the piggery daily to check whether when or which sow will be
gestating. The proponents’ application could help a lot especially in managing the
sow’s gestation calendar. The application can track which sow or what breed will be
farrowing. By creating a list of all the sows, it would be easy to manage especially for
the large piggery farm owners. Through technology, the researchers could ease
some parts of the daily routines of a caretaker or an owner. The automated feed
dispenser would automatically feed the pigs based on the proper time of their
feeding. The automated sprinkler would automatically shower the pigs when the sensor senses that the temperature could not be handled by the pigs. Through
mobile phones, the owner or caretaker could easily track which sow would be giving
birth on that date and could save the time and use the time in doing other things.
