Enverga University highlights National Heritage Month on 2nd Monday flag raising ceremony
Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation highlighted the observance of National Heritage Month during its Second Monday Flag Raising Ceremony, gathering administrators, faculty members, employees and students in a celebration of Filipino identity, culture and heritage.
The ceremony opened with the Entrance of Colors conducted by the Special Platoon of the College of Maritime Education, symbolizing patriotism, discipline and respect for the nation and the University.
The MSEUF Concert Singers added solemnity to the event through performances of the Doxology, the Philippine National Anthem and the University Hymn, Maroon and White Forever, setting a reverent tone for the program.
During the short program, Dr. Maria Sylvia S. Avila emphasized the significance of National Heritage Month and the importance of preserving the country’s history, traditions, languages, arts and values.
She stressed that heritage is more than historical artifacts and landmarks, noting that it also lives in Filipino virtues such as respect, hospitality, resilience, faith and love of country.
“As members of the academic community, Envergans have a vital role in safeguarding and promoting the country’s cultural legacy,” Avila said.
She added that honoring heritage strengthens national identity and inspires future generations to appreciate and uphold Filipino values and traditions.
Deans, directors, office heads, Basic Education principals, faculty members, employees and students attended the ceremony in support of the University’s month-long observance of National Heritage Month.
Through the activity, the University reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing patriotic, culturally rooted and globally competitive individuals who value and preserve Filipino heritage.
The ceremony reflected the University’s core values of Mindfulness, Unity and Fortitude by promoting patriotism, cultural appreciation and shared national identity. It also supported transformative learning by encouraging the academic community to recognize the relevance of heritage in shaping responsible and globally aware citizens.
