Korean choir brings music, culture to MSEUF through Philippine Praise Mission

Strengthening international friendship and cultural exchange through music, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation welcomed the Jinju Presbytery Pastors and Wives Choir of South Korea for the Philippine Praise Mission on Sept. 1 at the AEC Little Theatre.

The 17-member Korean choir presented a musical ministry for the MSEUF community, joined by the MSEUF Concert Singers and Banyuhay Dance Troupe in performances that highlighted Korean and Filipino culture, music and fellowship.

Vice President for External Relations Celso Jaballa delivered the welcome message and expressed the University’s appreciation for the delegation’s visit. Pastor Sundeuk Kim also shared a message during the program, with Pastor Dongback Lee providing Filipino-English translation for the audience.

Pastoral Adviser Son Yongwoo led the visiting group with Choir Conductor Pyo Ilsun and Accompanist Sihin Eunhye. The visit formed part of the choir’s mission ministry, which has also brought its musical outreach to communities outside South Korea.

Dr. Jennifer Reyes, head of Global Engagement and Linkages, joined University representatives in welcoming the delegation. Also present were Acting Vice President for Academics and Research Dr. Claudia Odette Ayala; Maria Isabel Granada, head of the Center for Scholarship, Job Placement and Career Services; MSEUF Concert Singers adviser Esperanza Maribao; and University Sports head Darios Virrey, who delivered the closing remarks. Marielle Peregrin of Global Engagement and Linkages served as master of ceremonies.

Through music, cultural presentations and interaction between the Korean delegation and MSEUF performers, the Philippine Praise Mission provided an avenue for cultural appreciation, friendship and international fellowship within the University community.
