Strengthening support, engagement and belonging among international students, Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation conducted the International Students Orientation Program on Sept. 3 at the OSAS Room 7 Testing and Conference Room.
Vice President for External Relations Celso Jaballa opened the program by emphasizing the importance of providing international students with appropriate guidance as they adjust to the University’s academic environment and community. He also highlighted the orientation as an avenue for students to share their experiences, concerns and suggestions so the University can better respond to their needs.
Janine Quiambao, senior record verifier, discussed enrollment procedures for incoming international students, including the necessary requirements and processes. The session also covered visa processing and special permits, including requirements involving the Commission on Higher Education and relevant embassies, to help students understand their academic, immigration and institutional responsibilities.
Rey Marco Casiño of the Office of Student Affairs and Services introduced the University’s student support programs, including mental health initiatives, psychoeducation and capacity-building activities, counseling and talk therapy, referral services, testing services, and career skilling, awareness and coaching programs. The discussion emphasized support for students’ academic success, personal development, career preparation and overall well-being.
The orientation also informed participants about upcoming activities designed for international students, including Global Connect and international engagement initiatives. Students were encouraged to participate actively in University programs and in special activities connected with the University’s 80th Foundation celebration scheduled for February.
Dr. Jennifer Reyes, head of Global Engagement and Linkages, delivered the closing remarks and encouraged international students to strengthen their connection with the Envergan community. Through the orientation, MSEUF provided students with practical information, access to support services and a platform for dialogue as they continue their academic journey at the University.
The program supported the University’s commitment to student-centered education and global engagement by helping international students understand essential academic procedures, access support services and build connections within the University community. It also reflected the core values of Mindfulness, Service and Unity by promoting inclusive support, open communication and student well-being.
