Web Content and Digital Engagement Officer John Rover Sinag served as one of the judges in the ARKontest of the Bulihan Festival on April 23, where he witnessed the creativity and cultural expression of 14 barangays through intricately designed arches made from “buli.”
The ARKontest featured arches representing each barangay, showcasing designs that highlighted Sampaloc’s identity and main product, buli, a native material widely used in local crafts.
“As a creative director myself, I can’t create this kind of creativity, but the principles in design and creativity that I am well aware of are very applicable to this kind of contest,” Sinag said.
“It’s my honor to be invited here and to witness the creativity, culture and tradition of the Sampalukin people. It’s my first time here, and I am glad I am one of the judges,” he added.
Sinag also joined the local government unit during the grand opening of the celebration. Mayor Nikko Devanadera, together with members of the Sangguniang Bayan, awarded him a token and plaque of appreciation in recognition of his participation.
