Blood donation drive mobilizes campus, community for health cause

To help strengthen the national blood supply and support life-saving medical care, the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CNAHS) of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation in (MSEUF) partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, recruited 72 qualified blood donors during its 2026 Blood Donation Drive at the MSEUF main campus, Feb. 3

Held with the theme One Donation. Endless Impact, the activity gathered students, faculty members, non-teaching personnel and walk-in community donors who completed standard Red Cross medical screening to ensure safe and voluntary blood collection.

Nursing and medical technology students served as volunteers during registration, health assessment, donor assistance and post-donation care, allowing them to apply classroom learning to actual community health service.

“Our students and donors truly showed the spirit of service,” said Carmina Tolentino, program coordinator of the Medical Technology program.

“This activity not only saves lives but also helps shape future health professionals who value community involvement.” Dr. Tolentino added.

Through its annual blood donation drive, the college continued its public health advocacy and reinforced the role of academic institutions in supporting national health needs through collective action.  Each successful donation can yield up to three blood components used for surgeries, childbirth-related emergencies, trauma cases, cancer treatment and chronic illnesses, according to Red Cross protocols.

The activity reflected the university’s commitment to Service and Excellence by responding to real community health needs while giving students hands-on, outcomes-oriented learning experiences. It also demonstrated Mindfulness and Unity as students, employees and community members worked together to promote wellness and emergency readiness.
