Hilayá concludes Soc Sci Week with performance on good governance
Hilayá, an accredited artistic organization of the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, closed the 2025 Social Sciences Week with a thematic cultural show titled "Good Governance, G?" on March 21 at the University Gymnasium.
The event combined dance, spoken word, music, and visual performance to communicate messages on justice, accountability, and civic responsibility. The College of Arts and Sciences Social Sciences Society organized the activity as part of its weeklong celebration.
“Our performance was a creative call to action,” said Hilayá Artistic Director John Kristoffer Tibor. “We used the arts to spark conversations about leadership, community engagement, and social transformation.”
Student performers delivered original pieces that emphasized transparency, public trust, and social equity. The production opened with a spoken-word piece on justice and closed with a collaborative number advocating for responsible citizenship.
“Art can move people in ways facts cannot,” said Hilayá member Ervie Jay Torzar. “This was our way of making governance relatable and urgent.”
Audience members, composed of students and faculty from various colleges, filled the gymnasium and responded with cheers and applause after each set. The crowd engagement reflected the show’s goal to make civic themes more accessible to young audiences.
