SCAPE members gain hands-on officiating experience at CED SportsFest 2026

Developing practical skills in sports officiating, leadership and teamwork, 150 SCAPE members participated in the College of Education SportsFest 2026 on Aug. 28 at the Twin Court and BasicEd.
TCO organizations spearheaded the college-wide activity, which brought together College of Education students, faculty members and student organizations for sports and recreational activities promoting sportsmanship, camaraderie and active participation across year levels.
First-year SCAPE members led the intermission presentation and Zumba activity, while other members served as sports officials and assisted in conducting various games and competitions.
Through their officiating responsibilities, the students applied their knowledge in an actual sports setting while helping ensure that competitions remained fair, safe and organized. The experience strengthened their communication, decision-making and leadership skills while building confidence in handling sporting events.
The SportsFest also strengthened collaboration among SCAPE, TCO organizations, faculty members and students. Through active participation both on and off the playing area, the activity provided students with opportunities to practice teamwork and contribute to the successful implementation of a college event.
The activity supported Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation’s learning-by-doing and student-centered educational approaches by allowing students to apply sports officiating and leadership skills in an actual event. It also reflected the core values of Excellence, Unity and Fortitude by promoting fair play, teamwork, discipline and responsible participation.
