132 student nurses mark milestone in capping, pinning, and candle lighting ceremony

The College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences (CNAHS) at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) held its 23rd Capping, Pinning, and Candle Lighting Ceremony Queen Margrette Hotel in Barangay Domoit, Lucena City, Mar. 11.

The event marked a significant milestone for 132 student nurses as they advanced in their academic journey.

CNAHS Dean Dr. Maria Corazon Valdeavilla, toegteher with some of the CNAHS faculty members Raleen Cortez, Maria Evelyn Llorin, and Mariegold Tan led the imposition of caps, symbolizing the students’ transition into the clinical phase of their nursing education.

Hon. Jay Castilleja, RN, MPA, an alumnus from the BSN Class of 2011, delivered the keynote address.

Hon. Castilleja emphasized the importance of perseverance and dedication in the nursing profession.

“Wearing this cap and pin is not just a privilege but a responsibility. Every action you take as a nurse will impact lives,” Castilleja said.

John Charles Devela, representing the student nurses, shared the collective experience of the batch.

“This journey has tested our resilience, but it has also strengthened our commitment to serve,” Devela said.

The capping, pinning, and candle lighting ceremony is a traditional rite of passage for nursing students. The cap represents discipline and commitment, the pin signifies the school’s endorsement of the students' readiness for clinical training, and the candle lighting symbolizes their dedication to compassionate care.
