OSEJPAR, OSAS launch 'Alumni Mentorship Program' to guide graduating students in career preparation

The Office of Scholarships, Job Placement and Alumni Relations (OSEJPAR) and the Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) hosted an employment coaching session titled "Filling the GAPS – Graduates’ Awareness, Aptitude, and Attitude Toward Employment" on February 21, 2025, at the Dr. Tobias Y. Enverga, Sr. Alumni Center (DTYEAC). 

The event brought together graduating students from the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Business and Accountancy with alumni mentors who shared industry knowledge and career insights.

Director Maria Isabel D. Granada of OSEJPAR and Director Joana B. Panganiban of Office of Students Afffairs and Services led the initiative, which is part of a series designed to equip students with practical skills for the workforce. The session featured three alumni speakers who provided guidance on job readiness and professional development.

Ms. Patricia Santos of Sassy Socials Digital Marketing Services shared her experience in the online and freelance industry, where she advised students on entering the digital business landscape, emphasizing the importance of assertiveness and core values such as honesty, sincerity, patience, and a positive disposition.

“Building trust with clients is crucial in this industry. Your work ethic and integrity will determine your success,” Santos said.

Dr. Criselda David, an HR head for the City Government of Lucena, spoke about the significance of commitment to government service and the need for empathy in addressing public needs. She highlighted the role of values-driven leadership in career growth.

Ms. Ronelie Venerayan, Director of HRD of the Andaman Group of Companies, shared insights from her two decades of experience in recruitment and placement where she stressed the importance of communication skills and a willingness to learn.

“Employers value adaptability and the ability to express ideas clearly. These skills set candidates apart in the hiring process,” Venerayan said.

The session concluded with Vice President Celso Jaballa and Dir. Panganiban presenting Certificates of Appreciation and Recognition to the three alumni mentors. Dir. Granada served as the emcee of the program.
