Faculty & Employees Congress highlights internationalization strategies, institutional development

To provide faculty and employees with key insights into globalization strategies, institutional development, and innovation in higher education, the Faculty and Employees Congress of 78th Foundation Anniversary Celebration reinforced the importance of academic planning in sustaining institutional growth and competitiveness in the global education sector. Feb. 10

Dr. Choong Yuenn Onn, Deputy Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research Professor at the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Malaysia, served as the guest speaker. 

Speaking for the third time in the Philippines, Dr. Choo shared insights on academic planning and globalization in education development. Dr. Choo emphasized the role of succession planning in academic institutions, stating that it is not just about filling leadership positions but also about identifying and developing potential leaders.

“By investing in this talent development, universities create a sustainable leadership pipeline that supports institutional resilience,” Dr. Onn said.

Dr. Onn discussed the importance of adapting to emerging technologies, pointing out that universities must prioritize research and innovation, where he highlighted the value of publishing high-quality research papers, stating that strong research output enhances a university’s ranking and competitiveness in the academic landscape.

Dr. Onnalso encouraged long-term strategic thinking and urged academic leaders to collaborate with potential leaders by introducing them to early leadership responsibilities. He noted that fostering a culture of research strengthens industry growth and community engagement.

Looking ahead, Dr. Choo expressed his intention to bring Enverga University toUTAR for an academic tour. He noted that MSEUF is an active partner of UTAR and looked forward to expanding their collaboration beyond research publications and teaching to include new academic and professional initiatives.

During the congress, MSEUF Human Resource Department also honored its retirees for their years of dedicated service. Dr. Marco Antonio Regalo Rodas who served from 1997 to 2025, Engr. Luzviminda Deligente Sinapilo, served from 1983 to 2025, Dr. Renato Mercoleza Vergara from 2002 to 2025, and Numeriana Diala Catalla, 1984 to 2023.

Partners from various institutions extended their greetings and congratulations to MSEUF. These included representatives from INTI International University, Universiti Teknologi MARA, UCSI University, University of Tabuk, Universitas Pancasila, and BJP Elite Academy.

MSEUF alumni also sent congratulatory messages. Among them were Engr. Raul Rada, Don Bartolome, Angelie Mae Alpay, Maricel S. Co, Ar. Romeo Vergara, Vonne Buñales, Engr. Marie Jored Pavon-Suegerra, and Engr. Arjel Joseph Suegerra, who hold key positions in international organizations.

Atty. Dario R. Opistan, Vice President for Administration, delivered the closing remarks, where encouraged faculty and employees to demonstrate leadership and strive for excellence, fostering a resilient institution committed to globalization in education.
