EU's Tarray won Nat'l PRISAA Games '24 'Best Taekwondo Coach'

Shiela M. Tarray of Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) won Best Coach in Taekwondo (Women) at the National PRISAA Games 2024, July 24, at SM City Legazpi Event Center.

The PRISAA Committee, led by National Executive Director Prof. Elbert Atilano, Sr., Secretary General Laureano C. Santos, National President Edgar C. Ballasts, and National Chairman Rev. Fr. Vicente L. Uy, SVD, unanimously selected Tarray for this honor. This award marks a significant milestone in Tarray's career, which started during her college years at MSEUF.

Shiela M. Tarray's passion for taekwondo ignited at MSEUF, where her dedication and skill quickly set her apart. Competing in various events, she consistently won gold medals in regional, national, and international competitions, remaining undefeated. She credits her success to the rigorous training and experiences gained through PRISAA events and activities.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Criminology in March 2010, Tarray's expertise in taekwondo secured her a position at MSEUF. Since 2013, she has served as a lecturer at the College of Criminology and the Physical Education Department. A native of Pitogo, Quezon, Tarray, who holds a 5th DAN Taekwondo Blackbelt, is a sought-after speaker at universities and private institutions nationwide.

As Head Coach of the Enverga Wildcats in Taekwondo, Tarray has produced champions in PRISAA events and other competitions worldwide. Her coaching ability has garnered victories and respect in the taekwondo community. Her accolades include ranking Top 2 in the National Taekwondo Instructor Licensure Examination in 2005 and the National Taekwondo Referee Licensure Examination in 2008. In 2015, she was named Best Referee and MVP at the National Best of the Best Taekwondo Championships.

Beyond coaching, Tarray contributes as a resource speaker, shaping the future of taekwondo in the Philippines. She embodies the spirit of excellence and determination that defines taekwondo.
