Enverga University, Anglo-Eastern set cadetship program partnership

To strengthen its industry partnership for maritime education, the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation welcomed the international shipping company Anglo-Eastern Crew Management Inc. for its Cadet Selection program, April 19.

Senior Vice President and Vice President for Academics and Research Dr. Benilda Villenas, Vice President for External Relations  Celso  Jaballa, OIC Vice President for Administration Amalia Delos Reyes, College of Maritime Education  Administrative Officer Assoc. Prof. Leah Salas, CME Onboard Training Supervisor 2E Rio Henson Derecho, and Associate Dean and CME Department Chairperson Capt. Crispino Portes welcomed Capt. Michael Miguel and Ajon Garcia during the latter's courtesy call. 

As part of the Anglo-Eastern visit, second and third year CME cadets took Stage 1 of the cadetship selection process, a computer-based assessment. Passers of this stage will proceed to take  Stage 2, the neuro test.

CME Administrative Officer Assoc. Prof. Salas shared the significance of this partnership. 

“By engaging with a renowned international shipping company like Anglo-Eastern, our cadets can gain invaluable exposure to the maritime industry, allowing them to broaden their understanding of real-world practices and challenges,” AO Salas said. 

“This collaboration opens doors for the cadets to access various career opportunities and pathways within the maritime sector, paving the way for their professional growth and success. Overall, the partnership serves as a catalyst for empowering the cadets to excel in their maritime careers by providing them with practical experiences and industry connections essential for their future endeavors,” she added.

The initiative undertaken by Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation in partnering with Anglo-Eastern Crew Management Inc. for its Cadet Selection program aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations.
