Criminology students emerge victors at 7th national congress


Students from the Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation (MSEUF) College of Criminal Justice and Criminology (CCJC) brought home five awards at the 7th National Criminology, Forensic Science, and Industrial Security Management Student Congress, held at Olivarez College in Tagaytay City, Nov. 25-27.

Showcasing her skills in both oral presentation and academic research, Lyca Penarejo won 1st place in the extemporaneous speech category. Penarejo also secured 1st runner-up in both the Best Research Paper and Best Presenter categories.

Presenting her findings in a visually impactful and informative format, Maria Alexandria Herico earned 1st runner-up in the Research Poster Presentation.

Demonstrating their knowledge of criminology concepts and principles, Elijah Rodriguez and Junell Letargo teamed up to place 1st runner-up in the Quiz Bee competition.

The students received support from CCJC faculty members, who joined them during the three-day congress. Neil Sumilang, Dr. Ellaine Veluz, Fergelyn Canonigo, and Dr. Dennis Albert Gonzales guided and encouraged the participants throughout the event.

CCJC Dean Dr. Henedina Lagumen praised the students for their performance. 

“These victories highlight not only the hard work of our students but also the quality of education and training they receive here at MSEUF. Their achievements inspire us to continue improving our programs and support systems,” said Dr. Lagumen emphasizing the significance of the college's status in the region.

“As the only Center of Excellence in Criminal Justice Education in the region, we are committed to preparing our students for real-world challenges through research, academic competitions, and practical experiences. The awards reflect the dedication of MSEUF students and faculty in advancing the field of criminal justice and upholding the university's mission to produce competent and professional graduates,” Dr. Lagumen added.
